scope:
This Guideline describes Orifices and Nozzles for special applications whereby the design of the primary device and its Installation does not conform to all aspects of DIN 1952.
Variations from the Standard will be outlined primarily. In case of conformity, DIN 1952 and its Sup¬ plement Guideline VDI/VDE 2040 will be referred to.
The low number of test results available about such special types and installations results in the requirement of higher uncertainties for the flow coeöicients as compared with the Standard.
Section 3 Covers Segmental Orifices which can be applied in liquids which foam, release gases or carry solid particles whereby possible operating disturbances will be prevented by the opening of the orifice.
Section 4 Covers Quarter Circle Nozzles which have relative constant flow coefficients at Reynolds numbers as low as ReD= 500.
In Section 5 the flow measurement with orifices and nozzles installed at the beginning or end of a pipe line is described. A special application is the outlet flow measurement from a Container.
