Purpose and applicability
This guideline is applicable to the testing of measuring equipment for geometrical measurands.
Its purpose is to provide a basis for the assessment of new and used measuring equipment. It is to facilitate cooperation between manufacturers and users of measuring equipment as well as suppliers of calibration services and it should be used as a working instruction for the implementation of test equipment control.
The guideline includes structured instructions for the calibration of measuring equipment for the measurand of length, mainly commercial measuring equipment used in the manufacturing environment.
