Overhead conveyor - Electrified monorail systems (EMS) - Planning support for operators and manufacturers of electrified monorail systems - EMS check list

active, Most Current
Organization: VDI
Publication Date: 1 September 2012
Status: active
Page Count: 16
ICS Code (Conveyors): 53.040.10
scope:

This guideline provides a comprehensive overview on the technology of electrical monorail systems (EMS) and aims at clearly and consistently defining terms for EMS users and manufacturers. This consistent terminology is a prerequisite of a smooth communication without misunderstandings between manufacturers and users.

Based on the guidelines VDI 3643 and VDI 4441 Part 1, the following EMS check list is intended as a planning aid for a specific application. It contains a catalogue of all relevant planning data describing the planning task and planning environment. This check list details the information that the later operating company of the EMS must collect in order to provide clarity about the planned EMS application and its organization on the one hand and to be able to give the manufacturer detailed specifications about the requirement profile for the conveyor technology on the other. With the help of this filled-out check list, the manufacturer will be able to create a quotation with a meaningful system performance profile. The EMS check list

• contains all aspects that are important for planning and ensures completeness in the design phase,

• is a condensed collection of original data and therefore an ideal instrument for a first contact between the operator and manufacturer,

• lays the shared basis for planning and commissioning the system,

• establishes the starting situation of the project and

• can be used as an argumentative support if irregularities or faults occur during system operation due to changes in planning dates.
