scope:
This guideline applies to centrifugal pumps such as radial pumps, semiaxial pumps (with spiral or annular casing, peeler with recirculation), axial pumps, centrifugal pumps with magnetic coupling, and canned motor pumps.
NOTE Specific aspects of circulation pumps for heating systems
and of positive-displacemen
For the purposes of this guideline, centrifugal pumps are pumps where the energy of the fluid to be displaced is increased by a rotating impeller around which the fluid flows.
Purpose
This guideline describes the range of noise emission values of the machines described in Clause 1, which has been determined by applying a harmonized measurement method (see Clause 4). Noise emission is characterised using the characteristic noise emission values defined in Clause 4 and presented in Clause 5.
This guideline also gives guidance on noise-control measures.
It offers an aid for its users - acoustical planners, manufacturers, users of pumps, and institutions in charge of assessing, testing or monitoring the noise emission of such machines - when assessing an individual machine from the acoustical point of view.
