scope:

This VDI guideline provides orientation help for

  • practising engineers who wish to compare their own capabilities with the generally recognised professional profile of "value analyst/value manager"
  • personnel developers who wish to define requirements profiles for existing employees and employees to be recruited and to establish personnel development concepts
  • managers who would like to develop their own staff for value analysis/value management tasks or who have to evaluate external value analysis/ value management competence

The guideline promulgates the requirements for the value analysts/value managers.

The value analyst/value manager shall acquire

  • management competence,
  • leadership competence,
  • social competence,
  • technical and methodological competence, and
  • personal competence.

He/she uses these abilities to tackle value analysis tasks, to control, coordinate and successfully complete their processing. His/her technical, managerial and organisational knowledge is the basis of this competence.

Through practical experience, the value analyst/ value manager builds up his/her knowledge and his skills. This qualifies him/her for more and more complex value analysis project work.
