Purpose of guideline

This guideline is intended to be a manual for the planning of power supply systems in AGVS. It is mainly for use by:

  • plant designers,
  • manufacturers of batteries and battery chargers,
  • plant users.

The purposes of the guideline are:

  • to procure basic knowledge of battery and charging technologies for AGVS,
  • to define and describe the terms of battery and charging technologies in the field of AGVS,
  • to limit the battery and charging systems to essential features required with respect to AGVS.

Standardisation of:

  • procedures during project specification (run procedure),
  • components and their interfaces,
  • functions of components and systems,
  • calculation method and plant layout.

The following benefit is to be expected from the definitions and explanations covered in this guideline as well as from the compatibility of components and functions:

  • transparency at simple as well as complex systems for plant procurement,
  • better project planning quality with the plant layout,
  • increase of plant availability for the plant user,
  • reduction of undefined subsequent costs and, thus, higher profitability.
