scope:
Part 1 of this Guideline describes a method of direct measurement of the effects of air constituents on steel sheets. Comparable measuring facilities are also used for assessing the exposure of further materials such as natural stone [4; 6 to 10] or glass [11]. This Guideline is intended to provide a basis for performing investigations into the effects on property and materials as demanded in § 47 of the German Federal Immission Protection Law (BImSchG). The results can be pre¬ sented in effect grids. The Air Pollution Prevention Acts of the individual German Federal states contain measurement results obtained on the basis of the method described in this Guideline [5]. It can also be used as a test method for evaluating environmental impacts if requried for the purposes of the Implemen¬ tation of the Environmental Compatibility Act (UVPG), in particular in accordance with § 6, para. 4, clause 2.
The Guideline is intended to contribute to standardis¬ ing the measuring methods employed to date in several German Federal states and also in some European countries [1 to 4].
