This VDI guideline specifies instructions and rules for the establishment of in-plant regulations, regarding the use of elevators with industrial trucks.
Using freight elevators with industrial trucks involves hazards. Improper action such as exceeding the admissible load capacity of the elevator, insufficient securing of the industrial truck, in particular where passengers were transported at the same time, passengers' inappropriate behaviour, etc., has caused many serious accidents.
