This guideline deals exclusively with temperature measurement for building automation.

The fundamental principle is that technical safety requirements arising from health and safety, industrial safety and fire safety specifications are superordinate to temperature measurement. Where special guidelines exist that relate to particular subject area, they apply additionally.

This guideline does not apply to ice monitors, radiation thermometers and bimetallic thermometers.
