Measurement methods test criteria - General method for the determination of the uncertainty of calibratable measurement methods

active, Most Current
Organization: VDI
Publication Date: 1 September 2001
Status: active
Page Count: 32
ICS Code (Air quality in general): 13.040.01
scope:

This guideline describes a general method for the determination of the analytical function of calibratable air quality measurement methods as well as the determination of the measurement uncertainty of measurement methods correspondingly calibrated.

The method does not include requirements or assumptions on the distribution and the magnitude of scatter of the random deviations and may be applied in case of linear as well as non-linear response. The method requires calibration data sets, which specify the uncertainties of the reference values as well as the uncertainties of the measured signals.

The uncertainties determined according to this guideline shall be combined with other uncertainty contributions from non-calibrated steps of the measurement procedure in accordance with the rules of uncertainty propagation (see [T8]) in order to get the uncertainty of the measured result.
