Purpose and range of application

It is the purpose of this guideline to specify universally valid calibration procedures for the calibration of measuring instruments for electrical quantities, and in this way to create a uniform institutionally independent basis for the surveillance of testing equipment.

The present Part 21 is concerned with the calibration of recorders.

It does not presume to cover all the metrological details of recorders in their entirety - even those important for the calibration. This guideline takes account of the appropriate standards and regulations (see bibliography). In addition, for the calibration, the manufacturers' specifications for the respective recorder should be observed.

The present Part 21 should be used in conjunction with Part 1 "Fundamentals" and Part 2 "Uncertainty of Measurement" of this guideline.
