This VDI Standard is designed to be used for monitoring the effects of genetically modified organisms on soil organisms based on the provisions of European Directive 2001/18/EC and Council Decision 2002/811/EC. It describes criteria for designing and implementing a monitoring strategy for soil organisms and provides the framework for the methodological standards described in VDI 4331 Part 2.
