active, Most Current
Organization: VDI
Publication Date: 1 December 2004
Status: active
Page Count: 44
ICS Code (Ambient atmospheres): 13.040.20
scope:

Introduction

Maximum ambient concentration values (MIC) are determined according to the basic principles outlined in the guidelines VDI 2309 Part 1 (Determination of maximum ambient concentration values - Fundamentals) and VDI 2310 Part 1 (Aims and significance of the guidelines maximum ambient concentration values). They do not reflect technical feasibility or aspects of cost-effectiveness. According to the current level of knowledge and in accordance with the appendant criteria, adhering to these values provides protection to the corresponding subjects (in this case humans).

In addition, the values represent an expert opinion of the Commission on Air Pollution Prevention of VDI and DIN - Standards Committee KRdL -, and serve the purpose of supporting decision-making with regard to the derivation of legal standards without having any direct legislative relevance for air pollution control.
