The present standard will essentially define and describe the components, procedures and methods for testing the geometric precision characteristics of deep-drilling machines. The standard enumerates the characteristics to be measured and also makes recommendations regarding a uniform way of representing them.
In carrying out testing a distinction is to be drawn between so-called shaft-drilling machines and other deep-drilling equipment. With shaft-drilling machines the entire machine is subjected to testing while with other machines only the deep-drilling unit itself is tested.
