It is the goal of this guideline to provide a description of performing vegetation surveys for ferns and flowering plants. Standardisation of procedures enables a high reproducibility of results and the comparability of data collected.

This guideline should particularly be applied within the scope of monitoring the environmental effects of genetically modified organisms. It exceeds the requirements of the DIN 19 686 standard.
