This VDI Guideline provides information about the expert planning, executron and implementation of potable-water heating systems that are to be built in sanitary facilities of residential properties and similar buildings. In addition to residential buildings, these include hotels, retirement homes and similar institutions as well as offices and administration buildings. Properties that are used for other purposes and where different criteria are decisive factors such as sports centres, can use the requirements listed here for guideance.

The stipulations of this guideline should ensure the correct operation of the complete system in the sanitary area with individually listed components such as heat generators, distribution system, drain and safety valves.
