scope:
This guideline applies to the planning of servicewater systems for buildings and estates. In particular, it refers to:
- greywater recycling
- stormwater harvesting
- well-water harvesting
- surface-water harvesting
- process-water recycling
With particular attention being given to the following applications (see Table 1 in Section 6.2):
- landscape irrigation
- cleaning
- toilet flushing
- commercial use
- cooling water
- fire-fighting installations
This guideline describes the requirements regarding the interfaces or points of supply between the drinking-water supply system and the servicewater system, and defines further requirements to be met by the service-water system.
This guideline is intended to describe the planning of service-water systems in conjunction with other building services while protecting human health as well as the environment.
The following aspects are taken into account:
- legal and normative stipulations
- hygiene
- occupational health and safety
- safety in general
- environmental protection
- the legal duty to maintain safety
- general performance requirements
Requirements regarding process waters for company-specific applications are not included in the scope of this guideline.
For the purpose of this guideline, in order to allow clear labelling for planning, execution, operating and maintenance, sanitary systems are classified in accordance with DIN 276:
