This VDI guideline aims to take into account both the manufacturer's and the user's tasks.
Precautions against fires and explosions shall be considered in the early design stage of an installation (see VDI 2263, BetrSichV).
Deviating from the precautions listed in this guideline is permissible provided that practically minded investigations demonstrate that the same level of protection is ensured in a different manner.
