scope:
This standard serves for determining the energy efficiency of lift components and for calculating the energy demand of passenger and goods lifts as defined in DIN EN 81. It can be applied analogously to other types of lifts. It applies to the components of new and existing lifts.
The standard allows a practical evaluation of the energy efficiency of lifts pursuant to VDI 4707 Part 1 based on methods for classifying and assessing lift components.
To this end, the standard provides the calculation bases required for determining the values of standby demand and travel demand.
The standard gives guidance on calculating the energy demand of lifts. The procedure can also be applied to lift technologies not explicitly named in this standard, in which case the energy demand can also be declared in accordance with this standard.
Important remark
All items of equipment required for normal operation of the lift must be taken into account; in particular, shutting down individual components for an apparent improvement of energy efficiency is not permitted.
