VDI 4494 BLATT 2

Outsourcing by the example of contract logistics - Outsourcing project

active, Most Current
Organization: VDI
Publication Date: 1 March 2012
Status: active
Page Count: 43
ICS Code (Purchasing. Procurement. Logistics): 03.100.10
scope:

Throughout the creation process of the VDI 4494 guidelines, we have thoroughly taken care of, that contents are presented for the most diverse logistics projects, both from the point of a possible project client as well as a contractor.

The outsourcing project characterises a defined time span, in which the options of awarding logistics services to a third party are checked and the implications of said award to third parties are estimated. Therefore, the logistics services that can be reasonably awarded are to be specified, put out to tender and awarded to a third party.

This starts with the formulation of clearly delimitable scopes of services as the basis of a decision for or against an outsourcing project, and ends with a decision for an outsourcing project with the award of a contract for the scope of services to a third party followed by a defined rampup phase for the assumption of the scope of services by the third party.

After the successful conclusion of the ramp-up phase, the project enters the operational phase with continuous monitoring of the contractor. If there is a decision not to extend a contract with a contractor, the outsourcing project starts anew with the search for a new contractor.
