Scope of validity

This guideline is applicable to plants for melting glass including waterglass, and to the storage, preparation and mixing of raw materials and cullet and the transport of the batch to the melting furnace.

The guideline also covers the annealing lehrs (annealing furnaces) required for stress relaxation of the glasses, and the hot-end coating plants of the container glassware industry.

The guideline does not cover plants for shaping hot glass outside the melting furnace and further processing of the glass and the glass items.

Reference is made to the specific laws, regulations and provisions, administrative or otherwise, applicable to the construction and operation of the facilities in question [1 - 9].

The principle of appropriateness is taken into account for the selection of the emission reduction measures.

All volumetric data for gases in this guideline relate to standard conditions (273 K, 1013 hPa) after deduction of the water vapor content. NOx concentrations are always calculated as NO2. Exceptions are specifically stated. The term raw gas as used in this guideline denotes uncleaned waste gas.
