VDI 3405 BLATT 2

Additive manufacturing processes, rapid manufacturing - Beam melting of metallic parts - Qualification, quality assurance and post processing

active, Most Current
Organization: VDI
Publication Date: 1 August 2013
Status: active
Page Count: 40
ICS Code (Quality management and quality assurance): 03.120.10
ICS Code (Additive manufacturing): 25.030
scope:

The standard gives recommendations for testing various characteristics of additively manufactured metal parts. Although it relates primarily to laserbeam- assisted processes, it is not necessarily limited to such processes.

The standard refers only to well-established test procedures and methods which are already standardised elsewhere and are regarded as universally valid. Since these test procedures and methods typically allow varying degrees of freedom, the results for test specimens which have been produced using a specific additive manufacturing process are often not directly comparable. To increase comparability, further test criteria must be specified which allow the aforementioned criticalto- quality characteristics of additively manufactured parts to be assessed. Standards for the test procedures and methods used are listed in Section 2 and can be used to qualify an additive manufacturing process or similarly for in-line quality assurance purposes. Section 7 to Section 13 describe their implementation.
