scope:
General
In order to understand Part 3 of the guideline VDI 3590, it is necessary to be familiar with the new version of Part 1 (Basic principles) and Part 2 (System design) of this guideline. This ensures that all the basic functions and all the subsystems of an order picking system and the various approaches for their realisation are familiar, while providing an overview of the criteria available for system design.
This collection of examples fulfils two tasks:
- On the one hand, the examples illustrate the application of the morphological charts to existing order picking systems.
- On the other hand, they provide solutions from order picking practice which may provide ideas for the solution of one's own order picking problems.
Order picking systems with a fully automatic retrieval process are deliberately omitted as these systems are dealt with in guideline VDI 4415 (automated order picking).
