scope:
This guideline covers plants for the production of cements with the focus on the standard process technology implemented in the Federal Republic of Germany. The following unit processes are dealt with:
- preliminary homogenization and transport of raw materials
- raw material comminution raw material grinding and
- raw meal homogenization clinker burning in rotary kilns
- clinker cooling and storage
- cement grinding
Quarrying of the raw material is dealt with in guideline VDI 2584 [1] and therefore not covered in this guideline.
Moreover, this guideline addresses air emissions generated by cement plants. Because of the special features of the production process, cement plants do not normally generate waste water emissions and production residues.
Reference is made to the laws, ordinances, administrative orders and other regulations applicable to the construction and operation of cement plants [2 to 4].
