Objective and scope

The recommendations given in this guideline refer to the implementation or modification of I & C systems important to safety in nuclear power plants, whose functions are classified to belong to category 1 of RSK-LL (for DWR Section 7 of 7th August 1996), or category A of IEC 61 226. The recommendations of this guideline for the design preventing common cause failure are intended to complement the guidelines on system design such as KTA 3501 and IEC 61 513, as well as IEC 880 concerning software engineering. The recommendations of this guideline also consider retrofitting of I & C systems important to safety which entails changes in I & C structure.
