Applications
The collection equipment allows sampling to be carried out under transient conditions (e.g. a Rinning cycle on the roller test stand) and steady-state conditions (e.g. a füll load operation), provided the temperature on the filter does not exceed 50 °C (e.g. because of PAH losses). The procedure determines quantitatively PAHs with five to seven cycles. PAHs with three to four cycles can be determined by connecting an adsorber.
It is possible to determine PAHs in the exhaust gas from vehicles fitted with a catalytic Converter. In such a case special safety measures shall be employed (e.g. careful cleaning of the dilution tunnel, closed chromatography systems, see Figure 3, etc.), since the amounts of PAH emissions are considerably reduced.
