VDI 2566 BLATT 2

Acoustical design for lift systems without machine room

inactive, Most Current
Organization: VDI
Publication Date: 1 May 2004
Status: inactive
Page Count: 24
ICS Code (Noise emitted by machines and equipment): 17.140.20
ICS Code (Lifts. Escalators): 91.140.90
scope:

Lift systems without machine room are lift systems where, as a rule, all parts of the lift system (such as motor, controller) are installed in the well.

This guideline applies to passenger and goods lifts with a working load of up to 1 600 kg and a maximum travelling speed of 1,6 m/s according to the relevant technical rules and regulations for lifts. The applicability to systems with higher working loads and/or higher speeds is subject to individual checking. For sound-insulation requirements, see DIN 4109 and VDI 4100.

This guideline is applicable to lift systems without machine room. For lift systems with a machine room see VDI 2566 Part 1.

NOTE The requirements stated in DIN 4109 are mandatory as they have been implemented as a regulation by the authorities in charge of construction supervision. Sound-insulation classes SSt II and SSt III as defined in VDI 4100 are always subject to contractual agreement.

This guideline includes

- reference values for the noise emission in the well (airborne and structure-borne-sound levels), in front of lift doors, and in the lift cage,

 - recommendations for sound insulation in the building (airborne and structure-borne-sound insulations) aiming at complying with the permissible noise-exposure values in rooms requiring protection (occupied areas),

- planning aids for the structure-borne-soundinsulated mounting of equipment, and

- guidance for the measurement of noise in the well, in the lift cage, in front of lift doors, and in occupied areas, and of sound insulation in completed systems and buildings.

This guideline is intended for use by architects, construction engineers, acoustics engineers, manufacturers and suppliers of lift systems, and builder-owners.
