scope:

This standard provides guidance material on emission reduction for equipment used in the treatment of mixed construction and demolition wastes according to the Commercial Waste Ordinance, and for equipment in which such wastes are treated alongside industrial waste and bulky waste. In this standard, the above categories of equipment are all described by the unitary term "equipment for treatment of construction and demolition wastes".

This standard also applies to plants in which exclusively the temporary storage and containment of the types of wastes named above occur.

The complete treatment process comprises the delivery and storage of the raw material, its preparation (including grinding, grading and sorting), as well as conveyance and storage of the materials obtained, and the necessary transport.

This standard does not apply to equipment

• in which only light packaging materials (recycling bins, yellow bags) are treated,
• in which only mineral construction and demolition wastes are treated (with regard to this, see standard VDI 2095 Part 1).

A more detailed treatment of certain aspects of noise protection and occupational safety lies outside the scope of this standard.
