scope:
This guideline applies to lifts for passengers and/or goods, according to the relevant technical rules and regulations for lifts, with a working load of up to 2500 kg and a maximum travelling speed of 4 m/s, and an electrical drive power of 30 kW or less. The applicability to systems with higher working loads and/or higher speeds is subject to individual checking. For sound-insulation requirements, see DIN 4109 and VDI 4100.
This guideline is applicable to lifts with a machine room. For lifts without a machine room, see VDI 2566 Part 2.
Note 1: High wells are prone to draught under certain weather conditions, which may result in disturbing noise being generated at the landing doors (see [2]).
Note 2: The requirements stated in DIN 4109 are mandatory as they have been implemented as a regulation by the authorities in charge of construction supervision. Sound-insulation classes SSt II and SSt III as defined in VDI 4100 are always subject to contractual agreement.
This guideline includes
• reference values for the noise emission in the machine room
(airborne and structure-bornesound
• recommendations for sound insulation in the building (airborne
and structure-borne-soun
• planning aids for the structure-borne-soun
• guidance for the measurement of noise emission and noise exposure in occupied areas, and of sound insulation in completed systems and buildings.
This guideline is intended for use by architects, construction engineers, acoustics engineers, manufacturers and suppliers of lifts, and building owners.
