active, Most Current
Organization: VDI
Publication Date: 1 February 2013
Status: active
Page Count: 30
ICS Code (Hand-held tools in general): 25.140.01
ICS Code (Mechanical testing): 19.060
scope:

The present guideline is intended to provide users of threaded fastening elements with a procedure for evaluating and preparing specifications for the performance of power-operated assembly tools in the typical operating range of 0,5 N·m to 1 kN·m and to enable the manufacturers of power- and manually operated tools to offer their products on the basis of correlated technical specifications.

The guideline defines a laboratory performance testing procedure for power- and manually operated assembly tools used for installing threaded fastening elements. It provides instructions on what should be tested and how this should be done, and also on how the test data should be evaluated and presented.

It applies to tools which deliver an uninterrupted torque curve and to production torque wrenches (measuring torque wrenches for use in production). It does not however apply to impact wrenches, controlled impulse nutrunners, stall-type nutrunners or cutout torque wrenches.
