Objective and scope

This guideline aims to specify generally applicable calibration methods for the calibration of measuring instruments for electrical quantities and to thus create a harmonised, supra-company basis for the monitoring of testing equipment.

The present Part 8 applies to the calibration of individual and multiple resistors as well as combinations of resistors (called resistors hereinafter) in the range from 10-4 Ω to 1014 Ω, used as material standards in DC measuring circuits. It is not applicable to resistors used in AC circuits or circuits with undulating current. Part 8 shall be applied in conjunction with Part 1, "Fundamentals", and Part 2, "Methods for the determination of the measurement uncertainty" of this guideline.
