active, Most Current
Organization: VDI
Publication Date: 1 February 1998
Status: active
Page Count: 24
ICS Code (Storing. Warehousing): 55.220
scope:

The Guideline VDI 4480 Part 1 applies for ware¬ houses with stationary, load-bearing shelves. The goods to be stored are put into and taken out of the storage locations by automatic operating systems (e.g. shelf operating systems). These shelf operating systems (RBS) are bound to a warehouse lane (shelving aisle) and cannot change to other lanes.

The guideline applies to systems with one or more warehouse lanes and with multiple input and Output points (EP and AP). The shelf operating systems can take up, i.e. input or Output, one or more transport Units (TE) at a time (single or multiple load capacity). Multiple shelf operating systems may be arranged within a single lane.
