scope:
The purpose of this guideline is to provide information about
the qualifications applicable to a Competent Person tasked with
conducting inspections of mobile elevating work platforms (MEWPs)
as specified in DIN EN 280 within the meaning of the German
Workplace Safety and Health Ordinance

This guideline does not cover the inspection of:
- permanently installed elevating equipment for transporting persons and serving defined levels
- firefighting and rescue equipment
- unguided work cages which are suspended from hoisting gear
- elevatable operator's stations on storage and retrieval machines
- lifting platforms (tail lifts)
- mast-climbing work platforms
- fairground equipment
- lifting tables with a lifting height of less 2 m
- building hoists for carrying persons and material
- aircraft ground handling and servicing equipment
- elevatable operator's stations on industrial trucks
The qualification of employees of an approved inspection centre (zugelassene Überwachungsstelle - ZÜS) is not covered either.
