scope:

This guideline deals with measurement methods and systems for measuring air pressure which are to be used in stationary operation near the surface of the earth. No consideration is given to measurements at great heights (10 km and more) or on special carrier systems (e.g. radiosondes). This guideline can give only a framework for measurements in particular research projects or relating to particular questions (e.g. air pressure fluctuations over very short intervals). Indoor pressure measurements constitute a completely different set of tasks which will likewise not be treated here.
