Purpose of the guideline

A multitude of sensors with different logical and physical interfaces are currently being used in automated guided vehicle systems. This guideline has been drafted with the intention to compile the requirements to be met by AGV sensor systems in accordance with laws and regulations, and to explain the sensor systems used in automated guided vehicle systems.

It should be noted at this point that compatibility between the individual systems is not possible at present, and may not be convenient in parts. This is due to the varying complexity of the AGV, and to the approval of safety-relevant components, which is associated with the specific type of AGV.
