Introduction

This guideline gives a general introduction to, and guidance on the practical application of, flexible intermediate bulk containers. Particular attention is directed to the filling and discharging, and to transport, transhipment, and storage processes.

The guideline is intended to supplement the standards and rules which are already available or currently being drafted. This applies, in particular, to DIN EN 1898 standard mentioned in Section 2.1, to the compilation of safety recommendations of the IK Industrieverband Kunststoffverpackungen e.V., and to further literature as per Section 4.
