In order to inspect the devices installed it is necessary to check whether they are in good working order. This guideline includes definitions and test procedures which can form the contractual basis for the purchase of electronic security-tagging systems.
Deactivation is dependent both on the performance of the system and on the quality of usage by personnel. The deactivation guideline is solely for checking the system performance; to ensure correct usage it is advisable to plan the appropriate measures (e.g. staff training) for everyday use.
If the introduction of security source-tagging on a wide scale is not to be endangered it is vital that active security elements are in a deactivation condition when they reach the customer.
The customer inspection guideline for the deactivation devices has been recommended by the working group on trade.
While executing the tests, it should be observed that the adjusted system parameters will be recorded for comparative purposes later on. In the case of performance tests in a laboratory, the original parameters of the producer (default parameters) should be used.
