scope:
This guideline specifies the constraints and minimum requirements for planning soil gas investigations. It encompasses the water-unsaturated zone between the original ground level and phreatic surface to the extent that it can be accessed with drilling or probes. This guideline can be applied to soil gas sampling in natural unconsolidated material and anthropogenous backfill.
