This guideline gives recommendations for all railbound cranes and trolleys exposed to wind. DIN 15019 specifies that calculations are required for protection of cranes against drifting caused by wind but no statement is made about the equipment to be used for this purpose. Therefore, this guideline explains how the wind velocity can be measured, which methods are available for wind alarm and which technical equipment can be used for protection of rail-bound cranes against drifting caused by wind.
