This standard applies to the handling of contaminants during demolition, renovation, and maintenance work in buildings and technical plants. It applies to the removal, coating, and spatial separation of contaminants, as well as to the provision and handover of the waste generated. This standard does not apply to activities involving earthwork structures, landfills, or contaminated soils.

This VDI Standard explains the key aspects for contaminant remediation - from analysis to disposal. Supplementing the regulations of VOB (contract procedures for construction work), it gives recommendations for required agreements in contracts for work.
