This practice covers the determination of filamentous iron bacteria (FIB) by examination under the microscope. The practice provides for the identification of the following genera of bacteria found in water and water-formed deposits: Siderocapsa, Gallionella (Dioymohelix), Sphaerotilus, Crenothrix, Leptothrix, and Clonothrix.
