This Recommendation analyses the electromagnetic (EM) environment characteristics of the 2.4 GHz industrial, scientific and medical (ISM) band used by new radio service systems. Examples of these radio services are: the IEEE 802.11 wireless LAN system, the IEEE 802.16 system, the IEEE 802.15 system and digital cordless phone systems. The definition and relevant information about this frequency band can be found in [ITU RR]. The equipment emission level and the susceptibility level are the key parameters analysed.

This Recommendation only considers indoor applications of the 2.4 GHz ISM band for the analysis of the band EM environment and for determining acceptable equipment emission levels and susceptibility levels.
