This specification covers the requirements for locked in inserts. The method of locking in the insert should be by means of a serrated collar and an accessory lock ring with matching serrations installed within the parent material to prevent rotation (see 6.1).

intended Use:

Inserts and lock rings covered by this specification are intended as a general purpose fastener with a mechanical lock feature resist rotation. See MS51998 for design and usage limitations.
