Purchase orders for steel listed in Section B should specify the material by the appropriate national standard, if such exists, for the chemical analysis required. Where no national standard number exists, the appropriate designation selected by the Navistar facility concerned shall be shown.

Compositions shown are for ladle (heat) analysis only. Permissible variations for check (product) analysis and other chemical practices shall conform to the national standard or other applicable specification designated by the Navistar facility concerned. Carbon and alloy steel group classifications are based generally on North American practice.
