The requirements of this standard apply to the stages of design, manufacture, installation, commissioning and safe conditions of use.

The term Escalator also includes Moving Walk unless otherwise stated.

This standard applies to escalator installations on the LU Network which are defined as Heavy Duty Metro type escalators or moving walks.

Purpose 

The purpose of this standard is to define the requirements for the provision of Heavy Duty Metro type escalators and moving walks on the London Underground System.

This standard is for Heavy Duty Metro type Escalators and Moving Walks only.

Unless an escalator is replaced with the same type of escalator reference shall be made to Attachment 11 which informs the Criteria for the selection of escalator types. The requirement for LU Heavy Duty Escalators and Passenger Conveyors can be found in LU Standard S1092.
