Purpose of This Order.

This Order provides the Federal Aviation Administration's (FAA) policies and procedures to ensure agency compliance with the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) (42 United States Code [U.S.C.] §§ 4321-4335), the requirements set forth in the Council on Environmental Quality (CEQ), Title 40, Code of Federal Regulations (CFR), parts 1500-1508, Regulations for Implementing the Procedural Provisions of the National Environmental Policy Act (CEQ Regulations), and Department of Transportation (DOT) Order 5610.1C, Procedures for Considering Environmental Impacts. The CEQ Regulations establish procedures for complying with NEPA. In accordance with 40 CFR § 1507.3 of the CEQ Regulations, this Order contains the FAA's implementing procedures, which supplement those regulations.
