PURPOSE AND SCOPE

This Technical Guidance Note is intended to provide comprehensive advice to Overhead Line field staff on the necessary actions and timescales for the rectification of defects and the management of such defects until they are repaired. If the defect outage cannot be secured within the timescales agreed, the document outlines the escalation process to enable the remedial works to take place as a matter of priority.

The document is designed to be comprehensive and cover most everyday scenarios. However, for conductor systems and scenarios outside the scope of this document (such as slipped wedge clamps, GZTACSR 'GAP' type conductor de-regulation issues and sub-conductor clashing) advice should be sought from Asset Integrity

When equipment is to be kept in service a risk assessment shall be carried out as detailed in TP 139 'Management of the safety risks to people from equipment retained in service with an abnormal condition'.
