DIN SPEC 91400

Building Information Modeling (BIM) - Classification according to STLB-Bau; Text in German and English

inactive
Organization: DIN
Publication Date: 1 January 2015
Status: inactive
Page Count: 16
ICS Code (Contractual aspects): 91.010.20
ICS Code (IT applications in building and construction industry): 35.240.67
scope:

The scope of DIN SPEC 91400 covers the whole field of setting up and working with building information models. By using the catalogue data from the DIN SPEC 91400 building information models can be equipped with specific building element properties that are based on the semantic order system of STLBBau -Dynamische BauDaten- and are coherent with the syntax and the semantics of ISO 16739.

The file format of the catalogue file can enable the integrated usage and storage of the original catalogue in building information model files according to ISO 16739.

Applying DIN SPEC 91400 to building information modeling will have the following benefits:

- Building information models can be enriched by adding consistently subedited data in the customary specific technical language.

- The properties' unique identifiers support the IFC data exchange. They make it possible that the data is computer readable as well as permanently linked to additional external information. This will enable a building information model's interoperability down to a level of properties and their values.

- By linking to the master specification system STLB-Bau -Dynamische BauDaten- it is possible to use the data from the planning phase consistently for specifying and costing.

- Data that is put into the model once can be accessed and used again and again throughout a building's whole lifecycle. sc
