This part of DIN 6650 specifies technical and hygienic requirements for point of use water coolers (water dispensers) for the dispensing of water with and without the addition of syrup. This comprises the requirements for the technical nature and operation of beverage dispensing systems for the dispensing of water and beverages as foodstuffs.

These requirements are specified to take into account all risk factors known to date.

This part of DIN 6650 does not apply to product certification as defined by the Drinking Water Ordinance (TrinkwV). In this regard reference is made to DVGW W 516.
