This document specifies requirements and methods of test for type S heavy fuel oil that is suitable for use in firing installations provided with preheaters for fuel treatment, and for which preheating is required for the purposes of transport, storage and combustion.
Type S fuel oils as specified in this document are not to be mixed with fuel oils produced from raw materials other than petroleum products.
This document does not apply to marine fuels.
